Overseas jobs are very much in demand. The moment that a vacancy is posted, you can be sure that hundreds, if not thousands of applicants will be vying to secure that slot. If your credentials have been verified by DataFlow, you’ll be sure to stand out from the crowd. In addition, I asked a headhunter what else you can do to increase the chances of getting hired.

Get a LinkedIN Profile

As a headhunter, my friend said that they get their candidates from networking, referrals, and most often than not, via LinkedIN using keywords. You can think of LinkedIN as a social media site for job seekers and employers. Your profile should read like your résumé, and your picture, posts, and comments must be professional.  If you still do not have a LinkedIN account, make one now. Once you’ve got one, add people to your contacts, especially recruiters and headhunters. If you already have your documents verified via TrueProfile.io, link your TrueProofs to your LinkedIn account!

How to Increase Your Chances of Getting Hired
Getting a LinkedIN account is a must for modern job seekers.

Highlight Your Skills and Specialization

Create a summary of your skill set. Be specific about what you can do and what you specialize in. Employers look for specific specializations. A generic profile will not be brought up in search results when headhunters enter specialization keywords. It also helps if you highlight projects that you spearheaded or initiatives that got applied company-wide. If you have licenses and certifications like Six Sigma or Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits, include them.

Don’t Ask for the Moon

One thing that may take you out of the running is if you price your asking salary out of range. When companies hire headhunting firms, they already have a budget range of how much they are willing to offer a potential candidate. If your asking salary is beyond what the company can afford, you will not even make it to the short list of applicants to be interviewed.

Communication Skills

Communication skills are vital to everyone. Even if you are in a technical industry, you would still need to sell yourself. You need to convey what it is you can contribute to the company. Tell them that you are the best person for the job. You can’t do this convincingly if your communication skills are not up to par. And once you’re in, you would need to interact with colleagues as well, and if you want to move up the corporate ladder, these skills will get you there quickly.
