TrueProfile.io recently interviewed Dr. Maroua Medjabri, an Algerian General Practitioner (GP) and an Aesthetic doctor. Dr. Medjabri tells us about her background, what she faced as a young doctor and her experience dealing with TrueProfile.io.
Hello, Dr. Medjabri. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I’m an Algerian GP Aesthetic doctor with more than two years of experience. I am 30 years old and I am also an artist and fashion designer. I love everything to do with art and fashion.
You are from Algeria, a land that has experienced many empires and dynasties. Can you tell me how that has shaped you as a person and as a doctor?
Yes, I am from Algeria and it is the biggest Arab country in the world. We also have one of the most famous deserts in the world, the Sahara. My country’s history has had a big impact on my personality and my growth. Algeria had a revolution in 1954 – 1962, which meant that every Algerian was raised as a child with pride. Our history gives me the drive and power to fight and focus on my life objectives and never give up on reaching my goals. I think this point is important.
You graduated from medical school in 2017. What are the challenges that faced you as a young doctor?
Yes, I graduated in 2017. The challenge I faced was learning that studying in medical school is only the first step. Every day, you need to deepen your knowledge and practice many things you never learned at university. Practice and experience allow you to grow, develop and reach your professional goals. Another challenge was facing negative situations as a fresh graduate who is new to professional life. You’re told that it is so hard to achieve success or that you are too young to practice. But if we never try, we can never develop or succeed! So we should give young professionals opportunities and the chance to succeed.
What are your plans in terms of your professional career? Do you see yourself migrating overseas?
I love this question! I am now working as a GP doctor. I want to be a famous aesthetic doctor in the middle east and in the world with my very own clinic! My second plan is to open my own fashion clothing brand and collection. As for migrating, I don’t think so. But I’m sure that I will go back to Algeria. One of my personal goals is to have a lovely small family and give my kids the best education possible. That will be my greatest happiness.
