Interview with Apurva Tandon (Part 3 of 3): The Future and Benefits of Verification for Issuing Authorities

In the final part of our three-part interview series with Apurva Tandon, Global Director of Operations for the DataFlow Group, we talk about verification as a win-win solution for all stakeholders, digital CVs and digitizing verification processes to minimizing the chance of human error or fraud.

Apurva Tandon, Global Director of Operations, DataFlow Group

Interview Participants

Apurva Tandon

Global Director of Operations

Susan Kilty (SK)

Interviewer

SK: continues to partner with issuing authorities (IAs) around the world to provide verified credentials. How can this benefit;s Business Partners, Members and issuing authorities?

Apurva Tandon

”It’s a complete win-win for all stakeholders involved. We all know that the existing process of preparing and sharing multiple-page CVs is soon going to be outdated and be replaced by digital CVs.”

Employers

”Employers want digital CVs where applicants share a link to their profile, work experience and work history just like a normal CV. These elements have sub-links that show that the experience letter or education certificate is verified and legitimate. User-friendly digital CVs are the future!”

Members

”When Members sign up, we give them a digital and pre-verified CV. When employers click on a degree certificate, they see that it has been verified by the DataFlow Group, which is already a name by itself in the background verification industry. These applicants stand out from the crowd and employers can place them in the priority lane along with other shortlisted applicants who they want to reach out to, connect with, or interview.”

Alumni, Students and Professionals

”Higher education alumni, students, or healthcare professionals who sign up to join an ecosystem of opportunities without spending a penny. Issuing authorities (IAs), with which we have collaborated, give their alumni a voucher code that they can use to sign up to and get their education TrueProof. Then the alumni fill in their details on their myTrueProfile page to create their digital CV, including their verified education TrueProof. Straight away, they join an environment where they are actively looked at by global employers. Members know that offers much better employment opportunities compared to their own efforts of reaching out to recruiters.”

Issuing Authorities

”For the issuing authority (IAs), again, it’s a win-win situation. Without spending a penny, IAs can provide opportunities for their alumni, which is the most important aspect of alumni management or reach outs. IAs organize job fairs where they end up spending a lot of money.

We give IAs an opportunity not to spend money and give their alumni a better chance of getting a job. It’s a great opportunity for Business Partners to see genuine profiles of people looking for employment with TrueProofs who have signed up from various issuing authorities and start reaching out to them for employment. The quality of the database has gone up many-fold. The confidence level for the employer when they are searching these profiles is very high. So it’s a win-win for everybody in the entirety.”

“The future of verification is going to be 100% digital verifications.”

SK: The pandemic has accelerated how education is delivered to keep up with business and technology developments. What are your views on the future of verification for stakeholders?

Apurva Tandon

”The future of verification is going to be 100% digital verifications. There will be a huge shift in how verification agencies and educational institutions do their verifications. Processes will be digitized where a verification request is received, automatically checked on a database and a result given without human involvement. Unless there is mismatched information unavailable online, then an IA official will have to get involved. Otherwise, it’ll all flow seamlessly. Employers have also become very wise in partnering with verification agencies that do direct verifications with IAs.

That is why the DataFlow Group is already two notches above its competition, where we have DigiFlow, which has collaborated with almost 200 issuing authorities globally and does direct verifications. So the confidence level of the employer is also very high when they’re dealing with companies like DataFlow Group. But the veracity of the information is very important for the employer now. They’ll keep looking out for somebody who has a direct connection to an issuing authority and not with someone in between.”

SK: How can issuing authorities express interest or reach out to further discuss a potential partnership with

Apurva Tandon

”We’ve had many IAs reach out to us through the IAs that have already signed up. IAs contact us saying, “we want to know more about the offer you made to ABC University.” We get visibility within that ecosystem. Our newly redesigned and restructured website has a landing page where any new issuing authority interested in collaborating with us can express their interest and our team will reach out to them. They can also email for any queries that they may have.”

This is part one of our three-part interview series with Apurva Tandon.
