Overview
We are looking for a qualified Orthopedic Cast Technician with Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics. With at least 2-3 years relevant experience after qualification is required. Fluency in spoken and written English and the Arabic language is desirable, but not essential.
This position provides assistance to physicians with the care and treatment of orthopaedic patients including casting, bracing and application of traction. The Orthopedic Cast Technician reports to the Head of the Department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Care for the patient by applying back slab, splint, plaster cast, bandage, brace, traction and other orthopaedic appliances according to the physician’s order and give instructions to the patient for proper care of plaster cast.
Organize and maintain stocks of equipment and consumables in the plaster room.
Perform other skills like dressing, removal of sutures or staples, K-wire/pin and etc as per skills competency evaluation.
Assist Orthopedic Consultant/Specialist in a wide range of orthopaedic surgical procedures e.g. Intra-articular injections, aspiration, postoperative dressings, manipulation/reduction or fracture in OPD/OT.
Monitor progress during and after the application of each procedure and give relevant patient education.
Health and safety standards are maintained.
Orthopedic Cast Technician data is accurately documented and maintained as per policy of Hospital/HAAD.
Maintain respect and dignity for all patients regardless of race, color, creed or their reason for attendance.
Perform other duties as appropriate and assigned by the Head of the Department of Orthopedics.
Remain current with Orthopedic trends, care and supplies and a responsible attitude to professional development.
Maintain hospital and patient confidentiality at all times.
The Orthopedic Cast Technician shall abide by the Internal Regulations, guidelines, protocols, policies and procedure of the Hospital and Hospital’s code of conduct for Allied Health Professionals all as amended from time to time by the Hospital at its sole discretion.
